Please see the link below to an urgent update and summary for the Chappy OSV beach access. There is a very important meeting coming up on April 5, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. where TTOR will be presenting to ConCom.

If the Notice of Intent and associated Beach Management Plan is not approved there will be NO PUBLIC OSV ACCESS ON CHAPPY.   All the details are in the summary so please read this document fully to stay up to date.

If possible, please attend this meeting, share your support and let your voice be heard. The meeting link and details are linked inside the enclosed document.

MVBAG Update 040123.docx

Although the MVSA may have not been as visible as MVBAG (Martha’s Vineyard Beach Access Group), MVSA and their members have been invaluable. We want to thank all of you who have participated in this process and provided input.

If the portion of Cape Pogue Refuge (North of Jetty to the Gut) was not pulled from the current NOI (Notice of Intent), the possibility of 0% public access for the 2023 season was very real. Instead of losing 35% of public access, we were advocating for having 65% as early as possible (Norton Point to The Jetty)

A separate and distinct NOI will be filed to allow a public discussion on the part of the property (Cape Pogue Refuge, North of Jetty to the Gut) that has the most concerns, issues and complexity. Everybody (except for a couple of vocal opponents) are pretty much on the same page that a separate filing will be issued later in the season – including The Trustees. This was already in a separate press release.

Although the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish derby is over there is still some fishing left out there. Check out the October 2022 Newsletter showing the success of our members during the derby. Success does not always mean catching a big fish or winning an award. Success in life is also just being out there experiencing this great island and community of friends and fishermen. That cannot be measured and has to be experienced.

There are all kinds of great articles and events such as the November MVSA Monthly meeting, MVSA Club Member  Results in the MV derby and MVSA derby, MVSA 2023 February banquet, MVSA Swag, and of course all the great pictures!
