January 31st – Annual MVSA Banquet at The Old Whaling Church
In Edgartown. Begins at 1 pm. Details below:
At our Monday Nov 3 Club meeting, a need to breath some vitality into our annual Banquet, Raffle, and Silent
Auction was recognized. Income from the Banquet, Raffle, and Auction are essential for the day-to-day
function of the Club, such as picnics, rental of the Edgartown Rod & Gun club, rental of the Old Whaling
church, club insurance, plaques, prizes, and of course the Banquet itself.
Note: Proceeds from the Labor Day Fishing Tag Sale go entirely to scholarships/vet housing and are not used
to support the club’s activities.
In short, we need the Banquet, Raffle, and Silent Auction to be as financially successful as possible.
As has been the case in previous years, dedicated member Bob Yapp will continue to solicit many donations
for the banquet. Thank you, Bob, and thank you to all other Banquet volunteers!
BUT– Bob can’t and shouldn’t do it all. The admission to our popular banquet will be free as always, BUT,
newly this year, we are asking each MVSA family to try to obtain a donation for the Raffle or Auction. The
donation can be a physical item, tickets of various types, or gift certificates. Think about what restaurants,
stores, or entertainment venues you visit often:
1. please contact a local business and request a donation with value of at least $50. If you need
suggestions for local businesses, please click on this google doc link:

edit?usp=sharing then contact a business that has not been approached in the 2025-2026 year.
2. It may be helpful to print out the club donation request note attached below and give it out as you
seek a donation. When you successfully obtain a donation, you can print out and provide the Club
thank you note, also attached below. Both list the many things the club does.
3. IMPORTANT: Either way, please let us know if a particular business has declined OR donated, so
other individuals don’t needlessly go to the same business this year. You can share this important
information (with description and approximate value of the item), in one of two ways:
a. contact Kathy Pogoda katspog@gmail.com OR
b. enter the information in a shared chart by clicking on
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1!bNGBkcAcLSKXEYjQWb3gIwXuUQLpyxaGxhYXkaOFQL4/edi
t?usp=sharing
4. Give the donated item, or a full description including value and photo, to Kathi Pogoda by Thursday
January 15.
